UBI’s student-led, cross-campus, multilingual framework for values-based education, leadership, and impact UBI Citizens have the opportunity to be G.R.E.A.T. every day.
UBI Citizen brings UBI’s values to life by connecting learning, student leadership, and real-world impact across the student experience. Embedded within the curriculum and co-created with students, it supports the development of globally minded, responsible, and adaptive leaders prepared to navigate today’s complex business and societal challenges.
UBI Citizen is student-led and student-driven, with students playing an active role in shaping initiatives, leading projects, and sustaining the framework across campuses, supported by faculty and the institution.
Rather than operating as a standalone initiative, UBI Citizen functions as a unifying framework that integrates values into how students learn, lead, and engage across programmes and campuses.
Through experiential learning, defined student leadership roles, and engagement with global challenges such as the Sustainable Development Goals, UBI Citizen ensures that values are not only taught, but actively practiced across the student experience.
This integration allows students to apply ethical judgment, global awareness, and responsibility within academic learning, leadership roles, and real-world contexts.
UBI Citizen supports UBI’s commitment to educating responsible, ethically grounded leaders for an interconnected global context. It ensures that values such as responsibility, global awareness, and ethical decision-making are consistently reflected in how students learn and lead across programmes and campuses.
In addition to international exposure through multicultural classrooms and cross-campus learning, UBI Citizen deepens this experience through values-based international engagement. Students apply their learning through experiential projects and global impact experiences, including collaboration with non-profit organisations and community partners addressing real-world challenges aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.
Through this approach, international learning is not only about where students study, but about how they engage responsibly with diverse communities, contexts, and challenges.
UBI Citizen aligns with internationally recognised frameworks such as the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) and the Business Graduates Association (BGA), which provide external reference points for responsible management education, ethical leadership, and societal impact.
This alignment reflects an institutionally embedded approach, demonstrating how UBI’s values and commitments are integrated across programmes and the student experience rather than delivered through isolated initiatives.
UBI Citizen is grounded in an ethical framework that understands leadership as responsibility, accountability, and ethical decision-making. Within this framework, students are not passive participants in values-based education, but active co-owners of how values are interpreted, practiced, and sustained within the learning community.
Student leadership is designed to foster reflective judgment, inclusive engagement, and shared responsibility, ensuring leadership development is both experiential and ethically grounded.
Students take on clearly defined leadership roles within UBI Citizen, such as Ambassadors and SDG Project Leads. These roles provide structured opportunities to contribute to values-based initiatives, support peer engagement, and shape the ongoing development of the framework across campuses.
Through student-led initiatives, including projects aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals and collaboration with non-profit and community partners, students translate ethical principles into action. These experiences reinforce leadership ownership, accountability, and meaningful impact.
UBI Citizen strengthens employability by connecting values-based learning with real-world skills, professional contexts, and evolving market expectations. Leadership development is directly linked to how graduates are prepared to navigate complexity, uncertainty, and responsibility in contemporary organisations.
Business leaders and external partners engage with UBI Citizen through student projects, experiential learning activities, and real-world challenges, grounding learning in professional realities and ethical decision-making contexts.
Through its contribution to experiential learning design, UBI Citizen supports the development of transferable capabilities such as critical thinking, collaboration, adaptability, ethical judgment, and global awareness — preparing graduates not only for their first role, but for long-term leadership in an international environment.
The G.R.E.A.T. Values define the shared principles guiding learning, leadership, and behaviour within UBI Citizen. Developed as part of UBI’s commitment to values-based education, they provide a common language across programmes and campuses.
Each value is represented visually through dedicated icons, reinforcing shared understanding and consistent application across the student experience.

UBI Citizen recognises how the G.R.E.A.T. values are demonstrated in practice through leadership, engagement, and contribution to the wider learning community. Recognition reflects a progressive leadership journey, supporting students as they develop from emerging contributors to more advanced leadership roles.
G.R.E.A.T. digital badges acknowledge demonstrated values through activities such as student leadership roles, experiential learning projects, community engagement, and participation in initiatives aligned with UBI Citizen.
In addition to values-based recognition, UBI Citizen awards a limited number of leadership badges to recognise sustained responsibility, initiative, and impact. These badges reflect advanced levels of leadership ownership within the framework.
G.R.E.A.T. digital badges are digitally verified credentials, issued through the POK platform. Students may choose to share their badges on professional platforms such as LinkedIn, making values-based leadership and engagement visible to employers and external partners.
