The Professional Postgraduate Certificate in Management of AI and Machine learning is available in two study modes: fully in-person at our Brussels campus, or fully online.
EU citizens may also opt for HyFlex – UBI’s hybrid model – which allows you to freely switch between attending on campus and joining online session by session.

Applicants need a completed Bachelor’s degree, with a detailed transcript showing subjects and grades (in English or French), a valid passport copy with a recent portrait photo, proof of English proficiency — usually IELTS (6.0) or TOEFL iBT (overall 4; or 72 on the old scale) results — and a motivation letter of around 500 words on how the certificate will contribute to your personal and professional growth. All certificates are taught entirely in English, so no knowledge of French is required. Applications are assessed on academic background and motivation, with an emphasis on your readiness for a global, technology-driven learning environment.
You apply online through the UBI Business School platform, free of charge. Once your complete file is received, the admissions team reviews your academic background and overall suitability. Selected candidates are invited to a 30-minute online interview with the Programme Director, typically held via Zoom, where your motivation and fit for the programme are discussed. Successful applicants generally receive their admission decision within 7 days of the admission interview. There are two intakes each year, in April and September, so you can begin at the point that best suits your professional schedule. The certificate is an intensive five-month programme carrying 30 ECTS, structured around five modules of 6 ECTS each — a foundational Business Strategy module, three specialised modules in your chosen field, and a final Applied Research and Practical Application project completed fully online. The compact format is designed to deliver a focused, career-relevant qualification without requiring a long break from work.
You can choose the mode that fits your circumstances: fully in person at UBI’s Brussels campus, or fully online from anywhere in the world. EU citizens also have a third option — HyFlex, UBI’s hybrid model, which lets you switch freely between attending on campus and joining online, session by session. The modules you complete are drawn from UBI’s Master’s programmes and carry 24 ECTS at postgraduate level, so progressing to a full Master’s qualification means completing the remaining modules and the final capstone project rather than starting again. If you are considering this route, the admissions team can advise on how your certificate maps onto UBI’s Master programmes and what the onward study commitment would involve.
On successful completion you are awarded a Postgraduate Certificate issued by Middlesex University London — the exact award title is shown in the certificate section of this page. Each certificate is built from selected modules of UBI’s Master’s programmes: you study alongside MSc students and are assessed to the same academic standard, so the credential reflects genuine Master’s-level attainment in your specialisation. Tuition is EUR 3,500 — a single fee covering the full five-month certificate, applicable to EEA and non-EEA participants alike. Fees do not include personal equipment such as laptops, textbooks, or travel costs. A range of entry scholarships and tuition support programmes is available, including merit-based, global inclusion, family-based, special group, refugee status and corporate scholarships. Yes — the certificate is built for working professionals. The five-month format combines asynchronous study with live sessions, and the fully online and HyFlex modes let you fit learning around a full-time role rather than pausing your career. As a result, many participants apply what they learn directly at work as they go. And because the certificate can be completed entirely online, there is no need to relocate — or step away from your job — to take part.
No student visa is issued for the Professional Postgraduate Certificates. If you are a non-EEA national outside Belgium, you join the programme fully online — there is no visa process, and you can study from anywhere in the world. One dedicated route exists for the UBI community: non-EEA students completing their Bachelor’s or Master’s at UBI can extend their existing student visa by an additional six months to complete a certificate on campus in Brussels. EEA citizens — and international students whose current Belgian residence status allows them to study — can also attend on campus. The admissions team can confirm which route applies to you.
